A year of pondering

Hey there,

I hope you’re doing well and the beginning of the new year has been refreshing.

As this new year began, I realized how much life has changed for me since I found out I was expecting my little boy last January. Since then, we moved into our first home, welcomed our baby Ford into the world, started an Etsy shop, and have been navigating how to be parents for the last four months.

It has been nothing short of amazing, hard, joyful, tearful, and just about any other emotion you could imagine.

That all contributes to how I just really didn’t find myself sitting down to write much last year. It was a year filled with a lot of thinking, processing, and taking in all of life’s changes. It reminds me of the verse in Luke 2:19 right after Jesus was born where it says “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart”.

Maybe my mama heart finally understands a glimpse of what Mary felt in the moments after becoming a new mom.

Joy, peace, fear, how can I do this?

God please give me the strength.

She knew everything just changed.

I can’t imagine doing that but having given birth to the Savior of the world.

I think last year was a year of treasuring and pondering lots of moments and memories between me, my family, and God. Sometimes it’s been when I’m nursing at 2am and sometimes it’s when I’m wearing spit up and exhaustion trying to rock my baby boy to sleep.

I’m starting to want to continue writing and sharing some of the thoughts and truths God is guiding me through. Now this isn’t a New Year’s resolution of coming back and regularly posting but more so a reminder of grace and writing when I can, showing up how I can.

Even if it currently looks like me typing this on my phone while my wiggle worm is nursing and telling me my time is up.

But before I go, I finally looked through some of my old blog drafts from the past few years and I think it’s about time some of those just get posted, even if they are a little incomplete, because they were also things old Selena thought were important enough to take the time to write. So the next few posts may have a note at the top that they are from years ago, how cool that these messages still are truth from God today.

Anyways, that’s all for now. I hope you take time to ponder all God has and is doing in your heart and how He is showing Himself to you this year.

Selena
